BODY!!! new Burberry fragrance for women

I after working yesterday evening, I stopped at my mailbox and saw a small white package. I've been waiting for a package from a good friend of mine- Stephanie Rodriguez of FiR (fierce cosmetics) with her eyeshadows. But instead of it being from my friend it was from Burberry. Of course I was surprise to see that I was getting something from such a wonderful company.
Opening the package I get the chance to try and review a amazing new fragrance from them called BODY. The scent is such a WOW factor with my body chemistry. Right after spraying a little and smelling it for myself plus having my daughters smell it as well. Hurry up and went to the site to search for the notes of the fragrance.

But first here's some photos I took of what I got in the mail.

Here below is the actual picture and description of the fragrance notes and the pricing varies from $55-$115 USD (prices of course will be different for other countries) for the Eau de Parfum. It also comes in a body oil for $50 and body milk for $50 also.
  • A deep and intense concentration of Burberry Body Eau de Parfum for a rich and long-lasting scent
  • Top notes of green absinthe, exquisite peach and refined freesia
  • Floral heart notes of natural rose absolute and iris enriched with warm sandalwood
  • Sensual base notes of woody cashmeran, creamy vanilla, seductive amber and musk

I'm in love with the sleek design of this bottle. How it has the signature inner lining of the coats on the top of every bottle not only just for the parfum but on the body oil and milk. Burberry has really done an awesome job on this new fragrance and I'm going to be purchasing mine extremely soon.

Please remember to go to the website (http://www.burberry.com) for all details and specials.

What do I want 4 Christmas!

That is the million dollar question on everyone's mind this Christmas holiday. But for me, I know what I truly want for this Christmas--is to do what I love: making others feel BEAUTIFUL!

That's right! I love being a makeup artist and this is the time where I can do what I love and at the same time make someone else day. I love to hear from a woman in my chair saying "Wow, is that really me!" or "I never thought I could look so beautiful." And of course, it's always followed with tears (that's why I use waterproof mascara on lashes).
This season is all about making someone else feel special and loved. So what do you really want for this Christmas? Make sure it's good. Cause who knows what kind of joy you can bring to yourself and others:)

Oh yea, I still do what that new UD NAKED 2 palette...hint, hint^_^!!!

Well that's all for now and please check me out on YouTube for great and fun/funny makeup tutorials, reviews and all things related to beauty. (http://www.youtube.com/user/Keedawht33)

The Beauty of Business Etiquette Series

I will be blogging about all the different faux pas that can happen in the world of entrepreneurs and business professionals. As for me, I've been asked in the past on how to handle the difficulties of being a self-employed, savvy business woman. And often times I ask myself the same questions: Would this action I'm taking be the right way? Or will I get the best outcome from this reaction I am displaying?

Yes we as business owners of today have to think up new and creative ways to handle and/or smooth the reactions we get from our clients/customers. I'm going to be using terms and words I use everyday being a makeup artist. Like for example: Foundation of Negotiation or Contouring of Tasking, these are mainly examples I know I'll most likely tweak the wording. But this is the jest of how I can simplify business etiquette 101 for everyone.

This won't be a long series but enough for everyone to enjoy and I hope those who read it will get something valuable from it. Starting this first full week in December 2011, I will be writing how I deal with the operations in my beauty business on a daily basis. That's all for now!

Can't Model Sleeping Beauty

I'm having the hardest time trying to get some sleep tonight. It's 2:52am and I just can't fight the fact that I'm upset plus worried. About what you may ask. My answer is: my beauty business. Yeah I feel like something is missing and at the moment not quite sure what that missing thing is. But what I do know is that the fear I'm feeling right now will not stop me. Yelp that's right I'm going to keep pressing and staying on my grind until I have either gotten over my obstacle or reached my goal. I'm going to make the fear disappear with positive thinking amd speaking it into existence. Now that I've wrote this out I'm feeling much better and can Model Sleeping Beauty, as my coach would say--Ungenita Prevost. A Day and Life of a MUA signing off!!!

Today Was A Good DAY!!!

Yea I'm feeling a little Ice Cube and stuff. But in all realness, today was a good day.
The call that I've been waiting for finally came this afternoon. My good client (Tommy Bottoms known poet) called me with great news a few days ago. That he was wanting me to be the makeup artist for his new cable TV series. Of course I said yes I could do it and that I was available for the day he was asking for. His show "The Ugly Truth" is on the internet radio show. I had a wonderful time meeting everyone and doing what I do best "makeup".
I thank the blessings that the Lord gives me to work with wonderful people like Tommy and Shelley.

Today definitely was a GOOD DAY!!!

My Beautylish Win

Yes I won something, ME. I thought to myself win I got an email in my inbox. (I talked about this in the post title "One Weird Day!!!") Well on the last Wednesday of October the FedEx man came knocking at my door. I opened not knowing that it was my winnings and that it was from one of my favorite site to talk about makeup/beauty and fashion- Beautylish.com. (Thanks Jasmine xoxo!)

When I opened the package I saw the cutest little box inside of all this pretty pink tissue paper. It was Oscar de la Renta Kaleidoscope palette- Ready to Wear. This palette of color is beautiful and appealing for all complexion, especially the red lip color. The palette also includes: Lip Creme, Radiance Powder Rouge and 2 True Colour Eyeshadow.  Photo of my item on the right.

I had an event to go to the next day and tried out my new palette. The shading was awesome, rich and moisturizing to my skin. I'm so happy and love the overall look of this palette. That night I had plenty of compliments of my look and of course have great praise to Oscar's Kaleidoscope to anyone who asked. Here are some photos I took of my look from that night. If you have this palette please post a comment with a photo of what it looks like on you.

One Weird Day!!!

Today when I got myself ready to face my daily routine, I notices something wasn't right. NO PHONE! I didn't hear it ringing just silence. So of course I ran through my place looking for my phone like it was my arm or better yet my fingers. Since my fingers are what makes the magic happen! I just couldn't believe that I misplaced my phone. The one most important thing besides my computer that's for my business.

Then I remember during my frantic search, my daughter use it this morning. So I went to her room and shared bathroom with her sister. Found nothing, absolutely nothing. Of course, I was frustrated and upset on next being able to call my clients, new business ventures and old friends. But then it hit me. SO WHAT! I can't get in touch with people by phone. Maybe you need a day to focus on SELF.

So I pulled out my yoga mat and got in tuned to self-relaxation and inner peace. Once I was done with my session. I came to my PC to check emails. I saw several posting of updates, newsletters and beauty/fashion news. Then one response back from someone who I've been wanting to work with for a sometime now. They respond with a YES, they would love to work with me and love my website with my work posted on it. I was in awe that someone who I've wishing to work with for a long time now finally wants me. Then that wasn't the only good news I've found in my emails today.

I enter into several different contest or giveaways in a day. Always something to do with beauty, since I am a makeup artist. Today when I went to me gmail account I saw a congratulations in the subject line. I was about to delete the contents but decided to read it first. I'm so glad I did! It was an notification telling me I have win a contest I enter in about a month ago. YAY ME!!!

Losing my phone was a great thing today! Because I would have just did what I always do...my daily routine and would have just either saw the info later or the next day. But I won't have put my mind at ease and focus on me, first. Just the business at hand. So my advice to you is to focus most of your energy on YOU first. Whatever that may be, for me is praying and meditation-this is where the yoga helps. For you can be walking your dog, taking a hike in a park or around your neighborhood or just sitting in a quiet room. But whatever it is please FOCUS ON YOU today.

This is all for now!

New Series- "Interview With"

Hi All,

I'm doing a new series of interviews with different aspects of the beauty/fashion communities. I wanted to interview some of the behind the scenes persons like photographers, models, hairstylists and of course makeup artists and others. I just wanted to shine a light on people who may never get the "Superstar" treatment and this is a way from them to get their "shine on".

This will be a fun series for me because of the highlights these interviews will have on all the positions and jobs in the beauty/fashion industries. I'll be interviewing local, nationally and undiscovered talent in US and aboard, as well as some of the stars or what we call the "celebrities" of the beauty/fashion world.

Because there are so many levels and positions that it could go on for ever. But I'm not going to be doing some long drawing out series of interviews. Just a few on each part of the beauty/fashion world to give an insiders view on the career.

Yeah this is going to be fun!!! And my very first interview is with a wonderful photographer. It was great plus interesting and informational.

Stay tune....   A Day and Life of a MUA signing off!

Scenario #1- Unable to Pay to Play

Ok everyone this is a story that has been told time and time again. The I'm unable to pay you for your services so I'll give you the photos as a trade for your services.
This is where my story begins:

A young lady by the name of Lala (real name has been kept private for the privacy of the person) had sent me a message on Facebook requesting my makeup artistry service for a upcoming fashion show. I replied to her message letting the new potential client know the cost it may be for me to do the event on short notice. Of course, since she was a new client I gave her a nice size discount.

Lala sent me a message back notifying me that the price I quoted her would be out of their budget. So I quote her another price and she did not reply back. I thought the negotiation period was over at that point. But later on the day of the event Lala sent another message urging me to call her immediately. I did and we talk about me doing the hair of the models for the fashion show since she had no one to do so.

I let Lala know that I could do hair and asked what time and the location of the event. Since I've already gave a price for the makeup services, I felt that I'll keep the price the same for the hairstyling services. I was not aware or informed that my services were for a TFP (trade for photos) type of situation.

So later that evening before I finished all the models hairstyling, I decided to inform Lala of my decision to cut the price even more since she was my ride to the event and also back home. See I'm generous! Lala notified me that she will call me the next morning to lock in the compensation of my services. I didn't receive that call, so I called her the next day.

This is when she notified me of the TFP situation of the terms for my services. I let her know that I was being more than generous on all the discounts I gave her for the event. And I felt it would be unprofessional and unfair to not pay me what was stated in the messages before.

Now yes I know some of you will probably say do we discuss the terms of compensation for hairstyling during the phone call. And the answer to that is not in detail but since I quote a price of my services in the first place I felt she knew what she was getting into. And also since she needed me and requested the service 3 hours before the event. I felt it would be only but fair to not overcharge her for someone else's misfortune.

The story currently continues now and I hope there will be a good ending.
